Monday Motivation, Goals, and Plans

It’s that time of the week again. Time to get up and get to work, but not before getting some coffee. I shouldn’t even be working this week but my boss has asked me, and some fellow coworkers, to come in and train a class of newbies. So now I work today and tomorrow but I should be off early both days. Yay.

The plan this week is to just get through my work and do the best that I can. I’m not particularly happy about having to work but I still have to do a good job. I am responsible for teaching these new employees what they need to know in order to do the job they have been hired for. I owe it to them to show up and give them my best. I have to put my personal disappointments about not getting to sleep in aside, put on a positive attitude, and do the job I was hired for.

And anyway, it’s only two days of work. I’m going in later, doing less than usual, and leaving earlier. Instead of being grouchy about it I should at least enjoy it, and at most take advantage of it. I only really have to work a half day but I think I will do a bit more and maybe squeeze in some writing time. They are paying me for the whole day, might as well get paid to use their internet for my own hobbies if I can.

After these two days I’m going to work on really thinking about some my new year’s resolutions. New year’s resolutions are nothing more than habit changes and as I have learned in the past, habit changes require a lot of thought and planning. You can’t just decide you want to eat healthier or be more creative. You have to know why you are doing it and you have to work at it everyday. I have a lot I want to accomplish in 2015 and I need to have a plan.

I also plan part of this week NOT focusing or being productive. I have a friend in town this week. She joined the Air Force over the summer and this is the first time I have seen her since then and she wants to party. So party we shall! Plus I have to find something special for New Year’s Eve although I fear I may already be too late to get invited to a good party.

So that’s it. I hope you have a good week too, it’s the last one of 2014 so make it count! Do something special, something you’ll remember, something to set the tone for 2015 :)
