A Storm is Raging

A storm is raging in our house tonight
The anger comes out fast
flashing like hot lightning
And tears come down hard
Like a summer monsoon
And the rising waters threaten to carry us both away

A storm is raging in our house tonight
And the storm is gaining strength
The winds are picking up
And a Kansas tornado
Tears everything apart room by room
While we tear at each other with insults and blame

A storm is raging in our house tonight
Our voices are getting louder
Because the loudest one wins
We sound like thunder clapping
We sound like thunder rumbling
The entire house is shaking to the foundation from our rage

A storm is raging in our house tonight
But the worst of it is over now
The lightning still flashes
but farther away
And the rain down to a drizzle
The flood waters of fear and pride begin to subside

A storm was raging in our house last night
Now all that is left behind
It’s all debris and destruction
But the air is fresh
And together we can rebuild anew
We look into each other and see rainbows on the horizon
