The Week’s End // All Sorts of Interesting Stuff

Happy Saturday everyone! If you’re looking for some interesting reads to check out while you kick back and relax, look no further, I’ve got you covered! Every weekend I like to share with you the most interesting things I found across the great, wide web. Enjoy!

George Lucas compares Disney to ‘white slavers’ that bought his children // The Verge

All those Star Wars films … I loved them, I created them, I’m very intimately involved in them, and I sold them to the white slavers that take these things and uh, and … [laughs]

I think George Lucas is being a bit of a whiny bitch right now. I mean, what did he think was going to happen? If he loved his franchise so much he should have held on to it.

And obviously, the slavery comparison is highly offensive and incredibly stupid.

Sneeze Count 2015 // Coolbeans4

Yes, sneezes. I’m serious.

This was so nerdy and so funny I had to share it with all of you. A bar chart of a whole year of sneezes! I love it lol

How Donald Trump Answers A Question // Nerdwriter

One of the things I find fascinating about Donald Trump is the way he uses language differently than other candidates for political office, especially President of the United States.

Oh, how I loathe this man! But even in my loathing, and admitted fear that he will become our next president, I do find his rise fascinating. HE is a salesman for sure and he knows how to get people behind him. Maybe we should take a closer look at what he does nd how he does it.

‘Chasing Tails’ and other poems by Layla Hehir // Poethead

Beware of the Hey Man,
he’s lurking in the street.
That hipster-hatted Hey Man,
the coolest guy you’ll meet.

These poems are just wonderful!

The Problem of Shakespeare’s Sister: Virginia Woolf on Gender in Creative Culture // Brain Pickings

Any woman born with a great gift in the sixteenth century would certainly have gone crazed, shot herself, or ended her days in some lonely cottage outside the village, half witch, half wizard, feared and mocked at.

Imagine how far ahead society could be right now if women had been treated equally all along. It’s frustrating and heartbreaking to know that we have wasted so much time and so many lives because of such ignorance

Two Years Sober // Ruby Brown

Because the second year is when I learned that not drinking isn’t the end of the battle. That I’m still sick.

Fighting addiction is a life long battle. Not everyone understands how hard it is and how much it hurts. All milestones should be celebrated and all struggles and sufferings voiced.

Samaria Rice Releases Statement: ‘This Entire Process Was a Charade’ // GOOD Magazine

“As the video shows, Officer Loehmann shot my son in less than a second,” she wrote. “All I wanted was someone to be held accountable. But this entire process was a charade.”

Of all the senseless police shooting that of 12-year-old Tamir Rice hit me the hardest. I am shocked and saddened that no one is being held responsible, and my heart goes out to his mother and their community.

Of Art and Pain // Of Opinions

Just because I choose to make something when I am miserable, it doesn’t make my misery a commodity.

I’m not sure if all art comes from pain, but I do think the best art does. I myself have struggled with feeling like I can’t create unless I am miserable, or that what I create in happiness is not as meaningful.

When To Hug Someone: Life’s Greatest Mystery // You Monsters are People

1. What if it feels like we are about to kiss?”
2. “How aware should I be of how close our genitals are to each other?”
3. “Is smelling them okay?”

I hate hugs. I value my personal space very much and I do not like letting people who are practically strangers invade it. I have been this way my whole life and I fear I have lost the ability to hug a person without feeling totally awkward or like I am somehow doing it wrong.

People You Should Ditch in 2016 // Hookup Culture

Any part of you that is old and dark and needs to change.

I think we all have people in our lives who are better left in 2015. Here is a good list to get you started :)

Kendrick Lamar Confronts Demons, Temptation in ‘God Is Gangsta’ Short // Rolling Stone (NSFW)

Rapper delivers furious performance in clip that features ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ cuts “U” and “For Sale”

This is why I love Kendrick Lamar. He reminds us that hip-hop is an art, not a formula, and he uses it as a way to express his pain.

And that’s it for this week. Have you read, watched, heard, or written an interesting thing this week? Has something on the internet made you think or feel strongly? If so, drop a link in the comments :)
