Hello and happy Sunday to you all. Thank you for stopping by a good cup of coffee and a friendly chat with me. The weather is nice enough today that we could take it outside if we wanted. Colorado has decided to give Spring another try after having returned to winter the week before. It has been fun reminding people that Spring has in fact already started, and explaining to the kids that just because it is snowing does not mean it is still winter.
If we were having coffee I would tell you that it’s been a long week, not in a bad way, I am certainly sad to see it end, but in a challenging way. The kind of challenging that teaches you something about yourself. I worked hard to get some of my Blogging A to Z posts finished and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be, and I had already predicted failure.
I am trying to remember that I am new to this, so yeah, it is going to suck for a bit. I remember when I was just starting to write regular blog posts, that felt hard. I like to think I am doing much better now, I hope. I assume the same will happen with this. I have more work to do, and quite a bit more to learn about storytelling. I am trying to remember it has only been two days and I should buckle down for the long grueling haul of writing crap before I can write anything good.
I also learned that I am braver than I thought and at this stage maybe that is more important than skill.
As for the rest of my Spring break, it was pretty awesome. I got to pretend to be a working from home full-time writer and I loved it. Besides the blog posts I organized some ideas for my zine and researched some essays I’d like to write. I set up everything I needed in my “creativity room” and worked most of the day. I even broke out my dictionary/thesaurus! The only things I wish I had done better were getting up earlier and getting into a writing mindset faster.
In the afternoons, my girlfriend would come home (she was still working) and we would venture out into the world. We did a little shopping, we bought a bunch of new houseplants we plan to pot today, and a new hanging lamp for the livingroom. It’s the little things you know?
By far the most fun we had was last night. We saw one of our favorite movie, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and as if that wasn’t awesome enough, there was a live band there to play along with the film. A concert, a movie, and a party, all rolled into one. Plus we got large foam glow thingies to wave when the music was playing, and to fight one another with, bubbles to blow during the lovey-dovey scenes, and gold coins to throw every time an Evil Ex was defeated. It was so, so awesome and I plan to do my best to attend every time they do one of these.
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I am looking forward to heading back to work, but also dreading it. Another thing I learned this week is that it would be hard to stay at home all day every day, even if you were doing the thing you love. I missed interacting with people and the house felt too quiet and the quiet was very distracting.
I’ve been away from work for nine days, if you include the weekends, and I imagine tomorrow is going to be a little rough. After our chat, I think I might try to make a few preparations for tomorrow. Mondays are hard enough as it is without me forgetting everything and
If we were having coffee I would tell you that this week I am going to keep our visit kinda short. I want to take some time to visit all the new people joining the #WeekendCoffeeShare this week. If you wrote a post and let me know and I will check you out today.
I hope you had a good week and were able to get out and enjoy the weekend. Soak up as much of today as you can. Monday is just around the corner and with it the work week and the usual routine. Good luck this week and I’ll see you in the next for another chat :)
