The Week’s End // A Few of My Favorite Internet Things

Happy Saturday everyone! If you’re looking for some interesting reads to check out while you kick back and relax, look no further. Every Saturday I like to share with you the most interesting things I found across the great, wide web. Enjoy!

The God awful HB 2 law in Texas, The law, was said to be for the benefit of women’s health but we all know, and the court recognized, that this was only ever about getting around Roe v. Wade and restricting access to abortions, has been struck down! That’s one state down, but don’t forget, we have many more to go.

When will people understand that abortion isn’t a procedure anyone takes joy in, but one that is still necessary nonetheless, and that restricting it doesn’t make it go away, it just makes it unsafe?

“So what’s going to happen is we are going to have equal rights, and justice in our own country or we will restructure their function and ours.” — Jesse Wiliams

I have acne, I am short, and I am neither bad looking nor good looking. I care about my appearance, but I do very little to make it any better. I don’t pluck my eyebrows, I barely shave, and I wear no make-up. Mostly I am just lazy, but also, I kind of like just being natural and average, for good or bad.

I see so much for the hatred and racism that lead to the Brexit mirrored here in the US. I fear that if our election goes the way of the right we may see an increase in hate crimes just as they are in Britain.

A beautiful, beautiful project by Emily Robinson for her mother, Cindy, who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. The video brought me to tears.

A nice long road trip sounds like exactly what I need right about now.

When you love someone, and they love you too, you are supposed to drive each other crazy. It’s part of the fun :)

One of the greatest pessimists of all time,” a man after my own heart.

For all the white, rich, and privileged students who think they are the ones at a disadvantage, you are not. You are only getting a taste of what it is like to have to work a little harder for what you want. Same as everyone else.

  1. Some good links on this post, Lisa! That Jesse William’s video made my day when I watched it this week, so unapologetic and purposeful.

Brexit is having a huge cultural impact over here, as well as economic, dividing the public in many ways as the vote was so close. I wrote about it this week, with a few interesting links included: https://charoflondon.com/2016/06/28/in-or-out-a-referendum-and-a-uk-divided/
