If We Were Having Coffee // More Birthdays, Yay?

Hello, dear readers, thank you so much for stopping by to chat and sip a bit of cold brew with me. I apologize for a being a little late; I am celebrating two different birthdays today.

I started out at my mother’s celebrating my youngest sister’s sweet 16th—we made a beautiful brunch spread of chicken and waffles with hot sauce syrup. I apologize in advance for the shortness of this visit too since right now we are celebrating my Father-in-law’s birthday—for him, we have a pot of shrimp, sausage, sweet corn, potatoes, and a few crab legs.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have not been doing very well lately. I had one of those weeks where everything seemed to be going wrong. There have been big things like work emergencies popping up, and little things like shirts getting ruined in the laundry.

There has been a shift in priorities and family has had to be put before my writing endeavors, and there have been disagreements and fights that have resulted in my inability to get out of my own head and mood to do the writing I need to do when I can. Not to mention an intense migraine that has been following me around all weekend.

I’m doing my best not to wallow or let it get me down, but there were a few instances when I might have had a mini mental breakdown and needed a few drinks and some serious spoiling from my girlfriend. I’m feeling a little better now but I think it will take some work not to fall back into it this week.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that not much has been new around here. Besides the birthdays I feel like I am in a waiting period, a calm before the storm of the holidays. The weather has been gorgeous, something like a real fall. I’m excited for Halloween, my favorite holiday of the year, and candy corn, and pumpkin carving but I’m sad to see the leaves beginning to change. I’m trying not to focus on the fact that winter is coming and when I can’t I turn to thoughts shopping for comfy sweaters and jackets and hot toddies in the evenings.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I expect things to continue to be very boring for the next week. I’ll have my usual work routine which will be much more work than I care to do, as usual, and ver little else. I look forward to doing nothing at all next weekend if I can help it and the following week will be a short one. I’ve decided to give myself another four day weekend since the school my route runs out of is off, and I will be attending a very cool Beetlejuice movie party at the Alamo Drathouse.  I might even dress up too! I’m going as Beetlejuice of course, and my lady will be going as the suicidal Receptionist.

If we were having coffee, I would apologize again for having to go, but it’s getting late, and I have to work tomorrow. I really hope you had a good week and you were able to relax a little this weekend. I hope the next week will be better than the last and I look forward to our next chat.

If you want, you can drop a note in the comments letting me know how you are and what you’ve been up to. I do love hearing from you all even if I am terrible at replying. I’m sorry about that too.

Until next time :)
