Magic

A wave of your hand shows nothing up your sleeves
Smoke and mirrors, abracadabra and ta-da! You’re in love!
I’m wide-eyed and wondering: how did you do it?

The Leaves Turned

The air cooled, the leaves turned, and you left me
This winter will be forever
The leaves may green, but I will never be warm

A Messy Painting

Rage then roses, then the air turning orange with sunset
We’re both yellow-bellied and sick with greed and envy
The Blues plays, slowly, indigo inklings succumb to lavender love

You Think You Understand

I am talking too much again
Trying to warn you about me
You smile and think you understand

My Waking Heart

Drifting to dream wrapped and warm, in love
Tossing and turning with delusions of her betrayal
My waking mind, suspicious, my waking heart, broken

You Owe Me an Apology

You never should’ve done what you did
But you at least should’ve said sorry
Yeah, you owe me that
and a whole lot more by the way

You really should have apologized by now
But I know you never will
You’ll never even say it happened
but you owe me all the same

You think you won
You think aren’t to blame
But something inside you asks my pardon
Something inside you is ashamed

Your suffering
Your loneliness
They call out to make amends

I hear you
I hate you
And I wish you the worst of ends
